About the event

Sail & Scale, Croissant Edition is a new Founders Mesh gathering designed for Sunday mornings in Amsterdam, with coffee, croissants, and clarity. It’s a softer, more reflective experience — where founders, investors, and enablers can pause the noise, share ideas over a good brew, and tap into that "I’m not rushed but I’m still building something big" energy.

This isn’t your average brunch. It’s 2.5 hours of meaningful conversation, inspiration, and connection — all while floating through Amsterdam, with caffeine in one hand and a new perspective in the other.

🕗 Time:

Selected Sundays | 12:00–14:30

Boarding at 11:50, coffee served on arrival, Les Mandarins departs by 12.

☀️ Atmosphere:

  • Chill, thoughtful, and sunlight-drenched (hopefully)

  • No tech, no decks, no pitch — just dialogue

  • Good music, soft conversation, the occasional birdsong

🥐 What’s on Board:

  • Hot coffee & herbal tea

  • Fresh pastries, fruit, small bites

  • Optional bubbles or kombucha (hey, it’s Sunday)

🧡 Vibe:

It’s Sail & Scale’s introspective cousin.More “shared espresso & clarity” than “pop the wine & pitch.”Less volume, more value. Still very Founders Mesh.

🍊 Why Les Mandarins?

We borrowed the name from a rich lineage—historically, Mandarins were scholar-officials in imperial China, selected for their intellect and moral standing. Later, the term evolved through Simone de Beauvoir’s post-war novel to symbolize elite intellectual circles navigating the responsibility of thought leadership in complex, real-world systems.

While sometimes critiqued for being insular, these circles were equally respected for their depth, clarity, and influence. We chose the name to honor this tension—to gather those who think deeply, build intentionally, and aren’t afraid to ask harder questions. Not to isolate, but to engage. Not to impress, but to understand.
